Dr. Vahid Shafiei
Dr. Vahid Shafiei is an experienced Life-Science scientist holding a PhD in Clinical Biochemistry, specializing in cancer biology, cancer metabolism, and regenerative medicine. He has an extensive background in designing and leading research projects within multi-disciplinary academic teams, with expertise in immunological, biochemical, pharmacological and biomaterial-cell interaction assays. Dr. Shafiei is also skilled in conducting complex cell-based and animal model studies and has demonstrated strong leadership in research project management. With a comprehensive skill set acquired through his PhD and career as an Assistant Professor at Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Shafiei has become an expert in evaluating biomaterials and nanomaterials in diverse cancerous and normal cell models.
Currently, Dr. Shafiei is an experienced research fellow supported by the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He is joining the lab of PD. Dr. Hajar Homa Maleki at both the Biomaterials–Cell Interaction lab at the Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne (CMMC) and the Bio-Inspired Materials lab at the Institute of Inorganic and Materials Chemistry, University of Cologne. Dr. Shafiei's collaborative project bridges his expertise in cancer therapy and bone cancer treatment with Dr. Maleki's group, which specializes in biomaterial-mediated bone tissue engineering, including the development of advanced self-assembly scaffolds and osteoconductive, anti-infective, anti-osteosarcoma 3D-printed scaffolds.
